Benefiting Misericordia Nursing & Rehabilitation Center

Well, it was a beautiful day for golf!
And it was flag day!
134 golfers, with two flags attached to their golf carts, enjoyed a wonderful day of golf.
Veteran and Knights of Columbus member from Lancaster, Terry Groft, pictured second from the left, led us all in the “Pledge of Allegiance” in order to properly kick off the event. Terry’s wife, Pam, is pictured on the left. Kathy Frost and Carson Frost are pictured to the right of Terry.
While the sun was beating down upon us before the start, and severe storm warnings were in the forecast, somehow the threat of rain and storms went away after prayers from Father Sahd. The sun went in for most of the day, leaving us with a slight breeze and remarkable golfing conditions.
Everyone was provided with a goodie bag, bucket of balls, and boxed lunch from Jersey Mike’s Subs. Beer and Soda Mart of Red Lion provided us with ample supplies. Jack Giambalvo provided us with 10 plus cases of water, which was badly needed, especially at the start.
Golfers were challenged to be the best team on the course, vying for the $300 prize for the best team score, Men’s & Women’s Longest Drives, Beat the Pro and Putting Contest.
Bob and Carol Karotko won the 50/50 raffle and donated the prize of approximately $300 back to Misericordia. Likewise, Neel Horst, Gunn-Mowery Insurance, donated back another $300 approximately that he won for the Beat the Pro contest.
The team with the highest score was once again provided with four certificates for free golf lessons from York Indoor Golf.
All golfers were off the course at 6:00pm and dinner began at 6:30pm in the Terrace Room. Our Presenting Sponsor, Bellomo & Associates, LLC, provided us with a guest speaker, Attorney Jay Metzbower.
Attorney Metzbower confirmed that the Knights of Columbus have been providing financial benefit seminars in partnership with Bellomo & Associates, LLC, for the past seven years. The seminars provide answers to many questions that deal with elder law, such as Power of Attorney documents, wills, probate, etc.
As the pictures indicate, a good time was had by all.
